Bootstrap framework

Bootstrap (front-end framework) is a free collection of tools for creating websites and web applications. It contains HTML and CSS-based design templates for typography, forms, buttons, navigation and other interface components, as well as optional JavaScript extensions.
It is the most popular project on GitHub and has been used by NASA and MSNBC among others.
Bootstrap includes a responsive, mobile first fluid grid system that appropriately scales up to 12 columns as the device or viewport size increases. It includes predefined classes for easy layout options, as well as powerful mixins for generating more semantic layouts.

Bootstrap was developed by Mark Otto and Jacob Thornton at Twitter as a framework to encourage consistency across internal tools. Before Bootstrap, various libraries were used for interface development, which led to inconsistencies and a high maintenance burden.

Bootstrap has relatively incomplete support for HTML5 and CSS 3, but it is compatible with all major browsers. Basic information of compatibility of websites or applications is available for all devices and browsers. There is a concept of partial compatibility that makes the basic information of a website available for all devices and browsers. For example, the properties introduced in CSS3 for rounded corners, gradients and shadows are used by Bootstrap despite lack of support by older web browsers.

Those of you who are more organized may have developed your own set of base files to use as foundation for your projects. This method works, but let’s face it, this is not the most efficient way to do things.
Designers need a solid foundation that gives us almost everything a typical website would require but is flexible enough for customization. Thanks to hundreds of hours spent by some developers and companies, we now have dozens of Frameworks to choose from. Among all the available frameworks out there, Bootstrap is favorite of all and also one of the most widely used. It’s included by default in Joomla 3.

How to use Bootstrap framework:
To use Bootstrap in an HTML page, the developer downloads the Bootstrap CSS stylesheet and includes a link in the HTML file. If the developer wants to use the JavaScript components, they must be referenced along with the jQuery library in the HTML document.
